Quick fix

It's still got a ways to go, but this 15-minute fix-up is a vast improvement. Here's how the area by the front door looked before:

And here it is after:

I need to retrieve the desk drawers and find a picture for the gold frame, and the lamp is just for looks because there are no outlets there yet. It's not much but having something prettier than a blank wall and random garden supplies when I come down the stairs is a wonderful change.

WOW! That really looks like something out of a magazine. Want to come down and stage my bookshelf ;) Where did you get the peacock art? And the green vase? It all looks beautiful.

Much better! Sometimes it's just as you say - a quick fix - that makes a very big improvement.

I bought the peacock art on our honeymoon. One of the B&Bs in Florida was for sale along with all its art and decorations. The desk was free from a friend, the silver frame was a wedding gift, the tulips are from my garden, and I think the rest of it came from Goodwill. I don't think that spot will ever be done - I think I tweak it every time I go down the stairs.

Wow, that's a big transformation! I love the way the tulips look in that green bottle.
